Acharavi Corfu ( Korfu ) Greece , Acharavi beach Corfu ( Korfu ) Greece Hills rise up from the lush plain of Acharavi and peak at Mount Pantokrater, one of the highest mountains on Corfu. It all makes a pleasing combination of beach, hills and mountains.Acharavi is a coastal tourist resort, with some 640 permanent residents, situated at a distance of 37 kilometers far from the town of Corfu at the Northwest. Many traces of human activity in the past, in recent and more remote periods, are visible in the area. Up to now, the most ancient evidence are some burials, of the 6th-5th centuries b.C., that have been found close to Almyros.
The European Blue Flag has been awarded to Acharavi beach in recognition of its water quality, and it is beautifully set among luxuriant green surroundings. The main road and beach-front are littered with bars, restaurants, tavernas, gift shops, supermarkets, and a sufficiently busy nightlife. By day "Central bar" serves breakfasts, lunches, snacks & more. By night Central transforms into the coolest cocktail bar in town with great music, giant TV screens and live music nights. Brought to you Andreas (Sonic Bar) & George. There is a wide range of relaxing and moderately priced accommodation from individual studios to luxury hotels and villas with swimming pools. Acharavi area has an abundance of other good beaches like the popular neighbouring Corfu beach resorts of Roda and Almiros, the latter tending to be the local's choice, generally a touch more tranquil and with an unofficial nudist beach. If you are in the area in the period June-August, you may attend the cultural activities organized by the Municipality. There are also several local feasts (“panighyri”), following one another, which results to an atmosphere of continuous amusement. |
