Kalami Corfu ( Korfu ) Greece The sand and shingle beach of Kalami, located 30 km north of the capital. It is a wide beach of flat stones which inspired the English author Lawrence Durrell to write his novel "Prospero's cell". Is the ideal venue for visitors who wish to relax on a quiet beach. Its waters are shallow, making it perfect for families with small children. You can find a few tavernas and hotels in the area. The amphitheatric greenery accompanied with the Ionian Sea and the hillside villages around Kalami Corfu are a perfect combination for an idyllic and relaxing environment. Kalami is well known as the place where the Nobel prize nominated author, Lawrence Durrell, once lived in the White House, and wrote excellent novels as “Prospero’s Cell”. The White House is still preserved at the end of Kalami bay from the beginning of the 20th century.
